Parrita
The
town of Parrita, which houses the local Municipal offices,
is a short 3 miles from Tesoro and is located on the
Costanera (coastal highway). The town itself is a quaint
old farming town that is becoming more modernized as
the local outskirts continue to develop and grow.
In
Parrita there are 2 chain supermarkets, 2 national banks,
several hardware stores, numerous small restaurants,
several churches, hotels, clothing stores, attorneys, doctors and dentists’
offices, 3 chain electronics/furniture stores, 4 pharmacies,
a bus station and a health clinic – among many other
businesses.
The
townspeople are warm and friendly and openly welcome
non-Costaricans. Parrita truly has a small town atmosphere
that is very satisfying.
There
are endless tourist related activities to be enjoyed
in the immediate area.
Quepos/Manuel
Antonio
Down
the Costanera (coastal highway), 12 miles from Parrita is the port town
of Quepos and connected geographically to it is Manuel
Antonio and it’s famous national park.
Quepos,
like Parrita has similar shops and services, except
Quepos is more tourist-oriented as is Manuel Antonio.
It is an easy and quick trip from Tesoro to visit the
area.
Quepos
is also home to one of the largest private sportfishing
fleets in Costa Rica and is in the process of building
a new, ultra-modern international marina.
Right
next to Quepos is Manuel Antonio – home to some of the
highest priced real estate in Costa Rica. Manuel Antonio
is also home to one of the most beautiful and most visited
national parks in Costa Rican national park system.
Here the rain forest runs to the beach and is home to
a wide assortment of interesting animals, lizards and
insects as well as plant life. Here also are numerous
hotels and restaurants and tourist activities that are
a short distance from Tesoro.
Standing
on the beach on Playa Palo Seco in front of Tesoro you
can see the boats in the harbor at Quepos and homes
and hotels in the hills of Manuel Antonio.
Jacó
Jaco
is located approximately 25 miles north - straight up
the Costanera from Parrita. The road is well paved and
the drive is about 30 minutes making it very easy to
visit for the day from Tesoro.
Historically
a surfing destination, Jaco is experiencing a construction
boom that may make it the "Cancun" of Costa
Rica. There are many shops, restaurants and services
that cater to the tourist. Many Costa Ricans from San
Jose come to Jaco for the weekend and for Holidays to
enjoy their vacation.
The
Los Suenos resort with a golf course, marina, and a signature Marriott Hotel, is
located 10 minutes away in nearby Herradura. All types
of tourist related activities can be found here.
