Playa
Palo Seco is located on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica
in the province of Puntarenas. It is approximately two hours from San Jose, 24 miles south of
Jaco, and 12 miles north of Quepos/Manuel Antonio. Nestled on
a long stretch of coastal land with an estuary on one
side and the ocean on the other, it is often referred
to by locals as an island or ‘Isla Palo Seco’.
By
car, the drive to or from San José is picturesque and
abundant with gorgeous scenery, weaving through the
mountains from Parrita. A new major highway is under
construction from San José to the Pacific Coast and,
when opened in approximately two years, will reduce
the drive from Parrita to San José by about an hour.
From
the airport in San Jose, take the road through Orotina
to Jaco. Continue past Jaco through to Parrita. Parrita
is the closest town, about ten minutes from Playa
Palo Seco. After crossing the Rio Parrita, you will
find our office located on the left-hand side of the
road just at the turn-off for Palo Seco. Just look for
the Tesoro sign. From the turn-off, Tesoro is a mere 5 minutes away-on the beach.
In
addition, there is an airport in Quepos, 15 miles away,
where you can fly to San José on regularly scheduled
20 minute flights.
